A nickname is a name you give the people in your traveler network that is more recognizable to you than their screen name. You can nickname another member in any way that's helpful to you. For instance, if you know a member by their real name and their screen name is not familiar to you, then you may choose to use their real name as a nickname. That way, you'll see their real name displayed in place of their screen name. If you know another member by their area of expertise, you might want to nickname them based on that defining characteristic. For example, you might nickname your friend who's an expert on France "France Expert." If you know another member only by their screen name, then you don't need to give them a nickname at all.
